HPS May 15 Weekly Update

Hello HPS Families! Here is your weekly update for the week of May 15th.

Write On Stationery and School Supply Lists

It's that time of year to consider next year's school supplies.  High Park has been working with Write On Stationery for many years.  This is not a fundraiser and so they are able to pass on the best available price on all supplies.  If you would rather shop on your own, simply visit the HPS or Write On website for the Grade Lists.

High Park or Write-On

High Park Elementary Track Meet

On May 16th, 2023 from 9:00-3:00  your child will be participating in the High Park School Elementary Track and Field Day! Students will be participating in events they have been learning in physical education class and will be outside all day.

Students will be competing in running, jumping and throwing events throughout the school day. We ask that your child comes prepared to participate in athletic clothing, running shoes, and is prepared to be outside for all weather conditions.

Things your child may need for the day:

  • Water bottle
  • Running shoes
  • Sun screen
  • Bug spray
  • Clothing appropriate for the weather
  • Hat
  • Money for concession (optional)

There will be a concession that will have snacks and drinks that the students are available to purchase throughout the day. All proceeds from the concession will go to purchasing equipment for physical education classes.

If your child is in grade 4-6 depending on where they place at this Track Meet they may be asked to participate in the elementary division track meet onMay 30, 2023 at Stony Plain Central. If your child qualifies for this track meet a permission slip will be sent home with more details.

To our “Popping” Volunteers - You’re Invited!

With our heartfelt thanks, we invite you to enjoy some light snacks in honor of the tremendous amount of support and time you’ve given to our school. Please join us in the school gym at 1:30pm on May 17th. Please be sure to RSVP to Mrs. Pollock in the office by phone or email at audrey.pollock@psd.ca. We look forward to seeing you there!

Try-Me Tryathlon

Registration is now open for Parkland School Division's Tryathlon. More information is available here.

School Fees

Term 3 CTF fees for grade 7-9 students are now past due. Please login to your Parent Portal to pay these fees. Fees are due by May 1. Please note that school fees are charged to cover the cost of supplies for these options classes. Without consistent payment of fees to offset operational cost, we will no longer be able to offer these courses. Being up to date on fee payments is a requirement for your child to participate in extracurricular activities and field trips, such as the ski club. If you are unable to make payment for school fees due to financial constraints, please contact our office as soon as possible to make alternate arrangements.

Something Fishy is leaving High Park!

We are releasing our Rainbow Trout on Friday May 19 at 1pm! We would like to send an open invitation for families to join us at Chickakoo lake for a bring-your-own-picnic and to help us release the fish. Students in attendance will have the opportunity to be chosen to release one of our fish into their new homes.

Final Exams and PATs

Final exams are coming up soon! Part A ELA (writing) exams begin this week on May 15th with the grade 9 and May 17th with the grade 6 PATs. The final exam schedule dates for all exams have been posted to our website calendar. Please note that there is a form required to be completed in advance if you wish for your grade 7-9 child to be allowed to leave the premises following their exams. This form will be sent out in early June.
