HPS May 23 Weekly Update

Hello HPS Families!

I hope this email reaches you. I want to apologize for any communication breakdown that occurred when our Message Sender was not working the past few days.

I am re-sending this memo as I now realize many people did not receive this on Friday when it was originally sent.  Have a great rest of your week!

Here is your weekly update for the week of May 23rd.

Write On Stationery and School Supply Lists

It's that time of year to consider next year's school supplies.  High Park has been working with Write On Stationery for many years.  This is not a fundraiser and so they are able to pass on the best available price on all supplies.  If you would rather shop on your own, simply visit the HPS or Write On website for the Grade Lists.

High Park or Write-On

High Park's Got Talent!

Parents and guardians are welcome to join us for our talent show starting at 1:30 in our gym on Wednesday, May 24th.

Alison Springer Presentations

On May 29th, Alison Springer will be visiting our school to deliver presentations for our grade 4-9 students. Alison Springer is the Founder of Young Woman of Power (YWOP) and a Youth Communications Specialist based in Calgary, Alberta. She has co-written curriculum used in Junior High Schools throughout Western Canada, and has developed and facilitated programs used in Calgary’s Youth Judicial System. She will be delivering her presentation, "Balcony and Basement Friends" for grade 4&5 students, "Speaking Up Leads to Safe Spaces" for grade 6&7 students, and "Wait For It: Celebrating Personal Diversity" for grade 8&9 students. She will also be offering her presentation, "Hope Full" over the lunch hour open to all students in grades 4 and up.

For more information about Alison Springer and her speaking topics, please visit her bio on the Canadian Youth Speakers website.

Try-Me Tryathlon

Registration is now open for Parkland School Division's Tryathlon. More information is available here.

School Fees

Term 3 CTF fees for grade 7-9 students are now past due. Please login to your Parent Portal to pay these fees. Fees are due by May 1. Please note that school fees are charged to cover the cost of supplies for these options classes. Without consistent payment of fees to offset operational cost, we will no longer be able to offer these courses. Being up to date on fee payments is a requirement for your child to participate in extracurricular activities and field trips, such as the ski club and Sun Run. If you are unable to make payment for school fees due to financial constraints, please contact our office as soon as possible to make alternate arrangements.

Hot Lunch

If your child will be absent and you’d like to pick up their lunch or send it to another child, please call or email the office at 780-963-2222 or highpark@psd.ca no later than 10:00 am the day of hot lunch. Please note that refunds are not available. The deadline to order hot lunches for the upcoming month is the 25th of the current month. The link to order is https://hpspal.hotlunches.net/admin/ and the code to register is always HPHL.
