Parkland Band registration opens

A popular after-school program is back and is hoping to strike the right chord with students.

Parkland Band, an after-school option, is looking for students interested in learning an instrument and joining a concert band. The after-school option will be run on Wednesdays and organizers are looking for students with or without musical experience.

Parkland Band will welcome students from Stony Plain schools in Grades 7-9 to join the band, which will be hosted at High Park School on Wednesdays from 3:30pm-4:45pm.

Are you interested in learning how to play an instrument and joining an after school band? Grades 7-9 students, of all experience levels, are welcome to join and will be taught how to play woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments in a group setting.

Concert band is a full-year commitment and will run from September to June. Students are expected to attend all classes and performances as the success of the group depends on the presence of all its members.

Emily Schultz, High Park School's Band Director, is in charge of this year's ensemble and she is thrilled to welcome students from across Stony Plain.

The first practice is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 3:30pm at High Park School.

The base course fee for the after-school program is $25 per student, which covers music and supplies. Parkland Band students may choose to bring their own instrument from home, rent or buy their own instrument.

*Every student may participate in the Stony Plain Band program – no student will be denied access based on financial need. Please contact Ms. Schultz if you need to make alternate arrangements.

Additional costs will apply for field trips and clinics that happen outside of normal program times.
