HPS Mar 13 Weekly Update

Hello HPS Families! Here is your weekly update for the week of Mar. 13-17.

Book Fair

It's the time of year again when our school library hosts the 2nd Scholastic Book Fair of the year!  The book fair will be open for the students during the school day at their regular library block visits as well as recess and lunch hour.  Additionally, there will be a Family Reading Event Wed., March 15 from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm.  All of the proceeds will come directly back to the school in the form of books for both the library and classroom libraries and resources published by Scholastic that support classroom curriculum. Thank you, in advance, for supporting our school through the book fair!!

Book Fair hours:

Monday, March 13 - Arrival of book fair and “Sneak Peek” for students and staff during the school day

Tuesday, March 14 - 8:30 - 3:30 pm

Wednesday, March 15 - 8:30 - 3:15pm / Family Reading Event - 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm - come on down and check out the book fair with your HPS child(ren)!

Thursday, March 16 - 8:30 - 3:30 pm

Friday, March 17 - Last day of Book Fair  - 8:30 - 1:00 pm

2023-24 School Year Registration

Registration is now open for the upcoming school year on the Parkland School Division website. Registration closes on Mar. 24.

Ski Club

Our final Ski Club date for this year is March 17. Please check out the email from Mr. Oldham for details.

Grade 7-9 CTF Term 3

Watch for information about options selections coming out today by email to parents of students in grades 7-9. If you wish to help your child(ren) select their options, please ensure selections are communicated with your child’s homeroom teacher by Wednesday, Mar 15.

Purdy’s Chocolate Fundraiser

Calling ALL chocolate-lovers! The Sun Run team is partnering with Purdys Chocolatier to fundraise for our trip to Vancouver on April 15! Stock up on your favourite Purdy’s treats (did someone say Hedgehogs?) AND support a great cause at the same time—it’s the best of both worlds. All fundraising profit raised will directly support the Sun Runners, so every order makes a great difference to us.Ordering is as easy as eating chocolate. The order deadline is this Sunday, March 19, so get shopping! Pick-up will be at the school during the week of April 3-6.

High Park School Spirit Wear Online Shop

Want to show your High Park School Spirit with some cool gear? Order your HPS clothing by visiting our website section at https://highpark.psd.ca/home/news/post/school-spirit-wear. You can view sizing information, pay online, and have items shipped directly to your home. A portion of these sales is directed back into our athletics and extracurricular programs here at the school.

School Fees

High Park Student Fee Statements for the 2022-2023 school year have been emailed to families. Please remit payment as soon as possible through the online PowerSchool Parent Portal. You can also pay by cash or cheque, payable to Parkland School Division, to the School office. Please include your child’s name with the payment. As always, should you require assistance logging into your Powerschool Parent Portal account or have any questions, please contact our office at 780-963-2222 or via email at highpark@psd.ca. We thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this matter.

Digital and Internet Safety Tips of the Week

 

  • Encourage teens to take breaks from devices once in a while
  • Establish a family recharging station and keep devices out of bedrooms at night

 

Hot Lunches

If your child will be absent and you’d like to pick up their lunch or send it to another child, please call or email the office at 780-963-2222 or highpark@psd.ca no later than 10:00 am the day of hot lunch. Please note that refunds are not available. The deadline to order hot lunches for the upcoming month is the 25th of the current month. The link to order is https://hpspal.hotlunches.net/admin/ and the code to register is always HPHL.
