HPS Jan 22 Weekly Update

High Park School Memo

Week of Jan. 22-26

Transportation Updates and Bus Status App

Download our Bus Status App for up-to-the-minute transportation updates. See this information sheet for details.

Outdoor Footwear and Clothing

Please be aware that students are expected to participate in outdoor recess until the temperature hits -23C with windchill. Please ensure students are dressed appropriately for outdoor PE classes as well as recess. This includes a toque, mittens or gloves, snow pants, and a warm winter jacket. If you are in need of warm winter clothing for your child, please contact our office.

Please also make sure your child has an alternate pair of shoes to change into from outside to keep our floors clean and dry.

Ski Club

Unfortunately, due to cold temperatures we had to cancel our first ski club date. Stay tuned for an alternate date communication to come out. There will be a mandatory meeting for all ski club participants this week to review rules, procedures, and expectations on the hill.

**Please note: As this is an extracurricular activity, school fee accounts must be in good standing in order to participate. According to our school handbook, students who join an extracurricular or athletic program are held accountable for their academic and behavioural choices and will be required to place these priorities first. Participation in extracurricular activities is a privilege that comes with responsibility. At the Principal’s discretion, students may be removed temporarily or permanently from a team, club or activity if they are not meeting the established expectations.

Breakfast Program

Just a reminder that thanks to our parent and grandparent volunteers, as well as the President’s Choice Children’s Charity and the Breakfast Club of Canada, we are able to provide daily breakfast for all students. The menu changes daily and includes items such as cereal with milk, toast, granola bars, yogurt and granola, fruit, and eggs. Breakfast is served in our nutrition nook between 8:15-8:35 daily. Please note that if your child has specific dietary restrictions or allergies, we may be able to accommodate these with advance notice. Please contact our office if you have questions or concerns, or to discuss suitable accommodations in these cases.

Visitors at School

For safety reasons, High Park School is a closed campus. All visitors and guests must report to the office, and all communications and deliveries to students should also go through our office. If you are dropping off items to your child, please come to the office first and we will get it where it needs to go. Unscheduled classroom visits can be disruptive to learning activities and school routines, so we ask that parents do not proceed to classes unless approved to do so.

Hot Lunch

Hot Lunch is offered to students by the Parent Advisory League from October to May.  More information can be found on our High Park school website under the Lunch Program. You must register each school year in order to place an order. The code is always HPHL. The deadline to order hot lunches for February is January 25.
