Oct. 11 HPS Parent Update
Hello HPS Families,
We hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend. Bundle up, because that cool fall air is coming! We hope you take advantage of all this season has to offer. Here are some links to fun family activities from Active for Life for you to check out.
Parent Teacher Interviews (K-9)
These will be held on October 12 and 13 from 4:00-7:00. Oct. 12 will be reserved for virtual meetings, and Oct. 13 will be available for both in-person and virtual meetings. If you haven’t booked in yet, please check our website for booking links and instructions. Booking is available up until 4:00 the day of the interviews.
Book Fair
Scholastic Book Fair is coming! Book Fair runs from October 13-20th, and will be open on October 13th in the evening during in-person Parent Teacher Interviews from 4:30-7:30pm.
School Spirit Wear
Can be ordered directly from our school online store at https://highparkhurricanes.entripyshops.com/. A portion of these sales is directed right back into our athletics programs at the school.
School Fees
Please login to the Parent Portal to view and pay your child’s school fees. If you have questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our school office. Options and extracurricular fees will be added at a later date.
School Council & Parent Advisory League (PAL)
All parents and guardians are invited to attend our next VIRTUAL School Council meeting on Tuesday, October 18th at 7 pm. Please click the LINK: School Council Google Meet Link. The PAL meeting starts at 6:00pm and can be accessed here: PAL Google Meet Link. Hope to see you there.
Hot Lunch
Ordering is open for November’s hot lunches at https://hpspal.hotlunches.net/admin/?sid=&un=0 until October 25. This week’s Wednesday hot lunch is from Domino’s.
Big Box Fundraising
Order forms were sent home for this Box of Cards fundraiser last week. There is a sample box available to view in our school office. Forms are due back to the school no later than October 24, and the boxes will be delivered to the school in November after the break. Student Illness
If Your Child is Ill: We encourage anyone who is feeling ill to stay home from school. If you are exhibiting any of the key symptoms known for COVID-19, we encourage you to access one of the many test kits that are also available at the school. Meanwhile, PSD will continue the following:
● Hand sanitizer will still be readily available at all schools,
● Students will continue to be reminded of the importance of thorough hand-washing hygiene,
● School staff will ensure that appropriate cleaning of high touch areas will continue,
● The frequency at which air filters are changed in PSD has also been increased and air handling/ventilation equipment in all schools has been adjusted to maximize the number of air exchanges within the schools.
● All schools will operate filtration systems that meet or exceed the Minimum Efficiency
Reporting Values(MERV) 13 air filtration rate, and
● Where practical, entrances and exits can be used to efficiently reduce crowding during high
traffic times of the day.

Halloween Hoopla
Save the date! This tradition will be happening at High Park School on Oct. 28 from 6-9 pm thanks to our PAL and parent volunteers! If you would like to help out, please contact our PAL president, Jennifer Read, at jennifer.read@ualberta.ca. Stay tuned for details to come next week.
