Sept. 12 HPS Parent Update
Hello HPS Families,
We want to thank all of our families who made it out to our Meet the Staff night on Thursday - it was so great to see everyone!
A reminder about morning routines: please note that our outdoor morning supervision begins at 8:15. Please do not drop students off before this time, as there is no supervision available. From 8:15-8:25, students in K-6 can be out on the playground or in the front area of the school. At 8:25, our doors open for elementary students to make their way to their classrooms. As the weather gets cooler, please ensure your child(ren) has adequate warm clothing to keep cozy during these chilly mornings.
Are you interested in BAND? Students in Gr. 6-9 are invited to try an INSTRUMENT! Band is an after-school program that runs on Thursdays from 3:05-4:35PM. Students will learn an instrument, play in a group, and participate in concerts and activities with other schools in PSD! September 8th and 15th are TRY-IT days for interested students to try instruments and see if Band is for them! The official Band classes start on September 22nd! This Tuesday is our Annual General Meeting for both PAL and School Council. The first PAL meeting begins at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, via Google Meets. Our first School Council Annual General Meeting of the year is scheduled for September 13 at 6:30pm via Google Meets. To join, please click this link. Elections will also be held at these meetings. We welcome all parents to get involved to learn more about new programs and initiatives at our school! Our PAL has started up the hot lunch program for the school year, with the first lunch on Oct. 5 - ordering for this one closes September 26. Please visit this link to sign up with the code HPHL. Cross country running season is starting this week! All races are on Thursday at 4:15, feel free to sign up for one race, or all 6 races. We hope to see lots of students, staff, and family members at the last race of the season as this year High Park will be hosting a race! If your child is interested in racing please see the attached PDF for more details. Permission forms are due back Tuesday, Sept. 13.
Please note, if you need to update any contact information on file, this has to be done through the Parent Portal in Powerschool. Our secretaries can help with this process if you have questions.
