High Park Christmas Concerts

Good afternoon parents and family members,

With this week’s cold weather forecast, we have been getting some questions about our plans for Christmas Concerts. We would like to inform you that our Christmas concerts will proceed as scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday evenings this week, even if buses have been cancelled for the day. However, we also recognize that the extreme cold creates several challenges, and that some families may not be able to attend. We certainly understand that each family must decide for themselves what is safe and reasonable given the circumstances. If your child is unable to attend their Christmas concert, we kindly ask that you communicate this with your child’s classroom teacher so that we know not to expect them in the evening.

We are very excited for the return of in-person Christmas Concerts this year. Traffic in our neighbourhood can get very congested at this time. Please do your part to respect our neighbours in the community by parking only in appropriate spots, by carpooling where possible, and watching carefully for children and families in the area. We appreciate your respect and attention to this matter.

Please note that the concerts begin at 6:00pm, and doors will open at 5:30. We encourage families to stay safe and warm in a vehicle or at home while waiting, and avoid lining up outside the doors prior to 5:30, due to the frigid temperatures. Please enter the school through the gr. 4-9 entrance closest to the gym. Students performing that evening will then need to proceed to their home classroom for attendance. Following the performance, please pick your child up from their classroom, as we have no room for students to meet families in the gymnasium.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact our office at 780-963-2222. Please stay safe and warm during this cold snap!
