HPS Dec 4 Weekly Update

High Park School Memo

Week of Dec. 4-8

Ski Club

We are pleased to be able to offer ski club again this year as an optional activity for students in grades 3-9. If you are interested in having your child participating, and/or in volunteering as a supervisor, please fill out this form and review this information letter by December 6. A consent form and information package will be sent home to families of students who have completed the form above. If you have signed your child up for this activity already, please check your Powerschool account to pay for fees.

**Please note: As this is an extracurricular activity, school fee accounts must be in good standing in order to participate. According to our school handbook, students who join an extracurricular or athletic program are held accountable for their academic and behavioural choices and will be required to place these priorities first. Participation in extracurricular activities is a privilege that comes with responsibility. At the Principal’s discretion, students may be removed temporarily or permanently from a team, club or activity if they are not meeting the established expectations.

Kinsmen Christmas Hampers

We will again be accepting donations at the school for the Kinsmen Christmas Hampers this year. If you would like to contribute, please send non-perishable food items, new, unwrapped gift items for children of all ages, gift cards or cash (at the school office only) in to the school before December 8th.

Art Cards by Kids Fundraiser

Our orders have arrived and have been sent home. Please check your child’s backpack!

Outdoor Footwear and Clothing

It’s that time of year - please make sure your child has an alternate pair of shoes to change into from outside to keep our floors clean and dry. Appropriate footwear is also required in the gym. We also ask parents to ensure that your child has warm clothing to wear outside at recess, as the temperature finally drops. This includes a toque, mittens or gloves, snow pants, and a warm winter jacket. If you are in need of warm winter clothing for your child, please contact our office.

Christmas Concerts

Our Christmas Concerts will be held on December 13 for Kindergarten to Grade 3 and December 14 for Grades 4-6. Both performances will begin at 6:00pm. Doors open at 5:30, and students must proceed to their homeroom class when they arrive at the school. Please see the separate email with more details from Ms. Boison in preparation for these events.

PAL PRESENTS… Christmas Concert Bake Sale!

Just a heads up for when you are doing your holiday baking:

The Bake Sale is back this year and we are kindly requesting your delicious donations!

The Bake Sale runs the evenings of each Christmas concert, right after the entertainment finishes up. Donations of baked goods and treats should be dropped off at the office on the morning of either Christmas concert to be packaged and priced by our volunteers for that evening.

Our dates this year are December 13th & 14th and the proceeds from this fundraiser support the High Park music program. **Please note - we cannot be responsible for ingredients in any baked items. Please be aware that these items may contain allergens.

High Park Music Monthly

Check out this amazing newsletter from Ms. Boison’s Music department with monthly updates about our music program at High Park! It really is worth a look!

Visitors at School

For safety reasons, High Park School is a closed campus. All visitors and guests must report to the office, and all communications and deliveries to students should also go through our office. If you are bringing something to your child, please ensure you come to the office and we will get the item where it needs to go. Unscheduled classroom visits can be disruptive to learning activities and school routines, so we parents and guests not to proceed to classes unless approved to do so by office staff.

School Fees

All field trip fees for pre-planned field trips have now been posted to Parent Portal. Statements have been emailed out to parents. Please login to your Parent Portal to pay fees online.

Hot Lunch

Hot Lunch is offered to students by the Parent Advisory League from October to May.  More information can be found on our High Park school website under the Lunch Program. You must register each school year in order to place an order. The code is always HPHL. The deadline to order hot lunches for January is December 25.

Utensils for Lunches and Snack/Breakfast Program

We will no longer be supplying cutlery to students as it comes at a significant cost and we are also trying to reduce waste. Please ensure your child has a set of utensils in their lunch each day.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to give me a call at the school office at (780) 963-2222 or email me at adrienne.owen@psd.ca to connect.
