Sept. 6 HPS Parent Update
Hello HPS Families,
I hope everyone had a fantastic Labour Day weekend and enjoyed some of the incredible weather we have been having.
With our first week of school behind us, we see students and staff starting to settle into the routines and structures here at the school. It has been so wonderful to see all the smiling faces filling the halls and classrooms again. We are off to a great start, and we ask that now that the year is rolling that parents and students be sure to review our Student Handbook for this year to ensure you are aware of school expectations and routines for this school year.
Are you interested in BAND? Students in Gr. 6-9 are invited to try an INSTRUMENT! Band is an after-school program that runs on Thursdays from 3:05-4:35PM. Students will learn an instrument, play in a group, and participate in concerts and activities with other schools in PSD! September 8th and 15th are TRY-IT days for interested students to try instruments and see if Band is for them! The official Band classes start on September 22nd! We would like to remind all parents and guardians that you are invited to “Get the Scoop!” this Thursday, September 8 from 6:00-8:00 here at the school. This is a great opportunity to meet your child(ren)’s teachers, check out their classrooms, and grab a tasty treat. We will also be running a Meet the Staff Bingo where you can learn interesting facts about our school staff and enter your completed bingo card in a draw for a door prize.
Our first PAL Meeting will be on Sep. 13 at 5:30, and the first School Council Annual General Meeting of the year is scheduled for September 13 at 6:30pm via Google Meets. To join, please click this link. Elections will also be held at these meetings. We welcome all parents to get involved! Our PAL has started up the hot lunch program for the school year, with the first lunch on Oct. 5 - ordering for this one closes September 26. Please visit this link to sign up with the code "HPHL".
