Sept. 19 HPS Parent Update
Hello HPS Families,
It’s starting to feel and look like fall out there! We are looking forward to another beautiful week
at school. Please help us ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the changing
temperatures throughout the day by considering layers that can adapt to the conditions.
Parking and Morning Dropoff/Afternoon Pickup
As these times are quite busy with vehicle and foot traffic, we ask for your patience and
cooperation at peak times. Please pay extra care and attention during these times. If parents
are using the dropoff lane in the morning, please keep drop-offs brief in order to keep traffic
moving through the area. We ask parents to please maintain a thorough distance from
crosswalks when parking along the avenue in front of the staff parking lot, as visibility issues are created by parking too close to the corner.
Visitors and Communication During the School Day
Parents, if you need to drop off items for your child throughout the day or are picking them up
early, we ask you to please wait at the office and avoid entering the hallways or classrooms
throughout the day to reduce disruption to our routines and instructional time. For safety
reasons, all visitors to the school must sign in at the front desk. Please note that students are
not permitted to use cell phones during instructional time, so if you do need to get in touch with your child, please do so at break times or by calling the office in the event of an emergency or urgent matter.
Walking Excursion Permission Forms
All students in K-9 have been sent home with consent forms for walking activities in the local
community. Please complete these forms as soon as possible and return them to your child’s
homeroom teacher this week. These forms will also cover your child’s participation in the Terry
Fox Run on Friday and other walking excursions or activities that do not require transportation
throughout the school year. This form is attached to this email if you require an additional copy.
Terry Fox Run
Our annual Terry Fox Run will take place on Friday, Sep. 23 throughout the day. A schedule of
events for the day will be shared on our school website this week. Please help us reach our
fundraising goal! Donations are accepted online through this portal. We are also able to accept
cash donations through the school office, though online donations are preferred. We thank you
for your support with this important initiative. Please ensure student walking excursion
permission forms are signed and returned to school so your child can participate.
Picture Day
School photos happening this week on Tuesday for students in the T/Th Kinder class and
grades 1-6 and Wednesday for the M/W kinder class and grade 7-9 students. Retakes will be
available on Oct. 25. Proofs will go home in October with ordering information, should you wish
to purchase prints.
School Spirit Wear Shop
Our school shop is now open online at https://highparkhurricanes.entripyshops.com. Familles
can order from this site and have items shipped directly to home. There are many selections
available in different sizes, styles and colours. A portion of these sales will be returned to our
athletics department at the end of the year. Use promo code: INTRO10 to receive 10% off your

Athlete Expectations for After School Sports
Our volleyball season is well underway. Please view the attached letter from our athletics
department regarding the expectations for extracurricular activity participation.
